Slowly Rock Me in My Hammock

Oh father, slowly rock me in my hammock.
Is that a lead based paint chip? Let me eat it!

Oh father, has the summer finally come?
So I can slowly rock in my hammock?
As you paint the garage, plant the garden, put a new roof on the garage, paint the deck, resurface the driveway, clean out the garage, pull out the front bushes

...All under the watchful eye of Mum.

Pina

Sometimes I get sleepy at dinner. Especially after being at school all day, climbing on things, and singing. Saying "Bottle" and "Ball" and pointing at random things every thirty seconds can tire a girl out.

Dad calls me Pina when my hair is up.

Hot Dog!

Dad paraded me around the yard the other day after I ate my first hot dog. He was excited, but not as excited as me because that hot dog was the best thing I've ever tasted.

He cut it up and put it on my plate and told me it was a "hot dog". I whispered "Hot!" because that's what Mum and Dad tell me to say when I get too close to the oven or to their tea. Then I barked, "woof woof" because that's the sound that dogs make. But it wasn't that hot and I sure hope it wasn't a real dog.

Sweet! Dad is Making Pierogies!

Oh wait, he just told me that he got them from neighbor Mike who picked them up in Buffalo. That's fine with me, as long as they have cheese inside.

Bogey Hunter

Mum should search for bogeys professionally- she is like a present day Boba Fett. She has all these crazy techniques to clean my nose that constantly surprise me. Look at us in this photo. Mum is calmly pretending that the tissue is a little bee buzzing around, so I'm smiling and trying to swat it. We're having a great time. But then, all of a sudden, it's this cold wet cloth that attacks me and wipes my nose, forehead, and chin!

Is that fair? I ask you! To deceive me like that just to clean the bogeys off my nose?

Self Portrait

Mum and I were having a swell time the other afternoon. We took about a billion pictures of each other. This one is my favorite.

My Oldest Friend

This is my friend Dylan. We were born one day apart. We've come a long way in 16 months. He was pushing me on Talladega the other day, like, really fast. He has a shopping cart at home to practice with, so he's really good at steering. I can't steer for some reason. I just push the wagon until it slams into the wall.

Yesterday, Dad asked if I wanted to go for a ride and of course I did, so I jumped into my Radio Flyer. But I couldn't find Dad. He was getting his jacket on because he meant that we were going for a ride in Blue. He laughed and pushed me around Talladega a couple of times before we got in the car.

Meat Thermometer

How does this thing work? I can only get it to read in celsius. Dad said that this pork shoulder is probably done, we just have to figure out the internal temperature. It smells good.

It took about four hours for it to cook. Dad told me that it once took Uncle B three days to cook a pork shoulder. He was smiling when he told me, and sort of laughing to himself.
